that is the most polite wording of "We do not accept any reservations" we could come up with
We have reluctantly instituted a flat 2.5% fee to charge card transactions. This fee will be based on your pre-gratuity check total (meaning no fee on your tip amount). Monk’s is no longer able to absorb the increased processing fees imposed by credit card companies. This 2.5% is lower than the fees taken from our account for each charge card we process. Taking this step will help us stay in business by partially offsetting these onerous fees. Thank you for your understanding and for your continued support of our independent small business.
Paying with cash will avoid this fee.
Please Note: We are unable to accept any form of contactless payment.

We have installed a state-of-the-art HVAC system that brings in outside air, has MERV-13 filtration to capture particulate matter and UV-C Light that kills viruses. One unit for each of our three dining rooms. That is already way beyond what the Philadelphia Department of Health, the CDC and NIOSH recommend, but we also added floor HEPA filters with additional UV-C Lights that will provide what we feel is a safe environment for our coworkers and guests.

We are in a never-ending quest to bring our guests the finest beers in the world. We have been serving world-class beers for over 26 years (Tom has been doing that since 1985). Brewers from around the world stop in on a regular basis because we know how to keep our draught lines clean, push the beer with the right gas mixture, serve the beer in clean glassware, and charge the fairest price in town. Our bottled beer list is well tended and stored under optimum conditions. We offer fine wines by the glass and bottle and offer a full cocktail bar. Our award-winning food is house made daily (except for the bread from Metropolitan Bakery and Baker Street Bread).
Monk's Café is a five-time James Beard Award semi-finalist for our beverage program.
We have welcomed our guests on a walk-in basis for nearly 28 years. We are currently limiting party size to 8 guests. We add a 18% service fee to groups of 5 or larger.
Please Note: We are unable to accept any form of contactless payment.
