Hill Farmstead Works of Love: Monk's Café

Way back in April of 2017, Monk's proprietor Tom Peters journeyed to the far-off Northeast Kingdom of Vermont to blend a special beer commemorating Monk's 20th anniversary. As Hill Farmstead founder and brewer Shaun Hill says, "the beer follows its own path," and is only now ready to share with our loyal guests at Monk's Café.

On Saturday, September 10 beginning at Noon, Hill Farmstead Works of Love: Monk's Café ($55) will make its world debut. Tom and Shaun stated a lofty goal of purposeful collaboration evoking the minerality of white Burgundy wine. Works of Love: Monk's Café is a blend of eight individual barrels comprised of the following: Nordic Saison, Vera Mae, Anna, Arthur, and Florence.

"Shaun Hill and I tasted bottles of Works of Love a couple of times a year over the past nearly five and half years," says Tom Peters. "As with a refined wine, this took many years of bottle-conditioning to reach its potential. This opens with aromas of peaches and apricots with a bit of oak, peppercorn spice, citrus and herbal notes. Flavor is ripe peach, oak, minerals – wet stones, pear, dandelion and a hint of lemon curd. The finish goes on and on. Pillowy carbonation with elegant, tight bubbles. A stunning beer that is worth the five-year wait of bottle aging. This is truly a work of love."

Works of Love: Monk's Café debuts exclusively at Monk's until September 14, after which Hill Farmstead will offer it in their Greensboro Bend, Vermont, tasting room. This bottle is available for on-site enjoyment only at Monk's Cafe; no takeout will be offered at any time for this bottle here.

In addition to Works of Love, Monk's is the exclusive recipient of 750ml bottles of Hill Farmstead Anna, Arthur and Vera Mae for takeaway only. 100% of the purchase price of Anna ($25), Arthur ($25), and Vera Mae ($45) will be donated to Women Against Abuse. We encourage our guests to bring cash to purchase these bottles, so that we may maximize our donation to Women Against Abuse by avoiding credit card fees.

This event is unticketed and pay-as-you-go. Monk's will be open with our usual full bar and kitchen menus from Noon on Saturday, September 10. We look forward to celebrating this special beer and our 25th year with you!
