Russian River Brewing Company's famed triple IPA Pliny the Younger will return to Monk's Café on President's Day: Monday, February 20 beginning at Noon.  This is also the return of our classic, unticketed Younger Day fundraiser, where 100% of the price of 26 drafts (including Younger) benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. To that end, all draft beer on February 20 from Noon to 5pm is CASH ONLY, no exceptions. Please BRING CASH to this event. We will have our ATM stocked 'n' ready, but you be ready, too. Bottled beer and food may be purchased with a credit or debit card. We will have our entire menu on offer, as usual.

Pliny the Younger, The Beer:

"This is our 19th year brewing Pliny the Younger! It is a Triple IPA, meaning that it is higher in alcohol and has tons of hops. Though the ABV usually finishes at about 10.25%, it is remarkably dry for the amount of malt used in this recipe. Loaded with hop aroma and flavor, Younger is well-balanced with malt and a lingering dry and bitter finish. We brewed Younger for the first time in 2005 as a winter seasonal release, building upon the Pliny the Elder recipe while pushing the envelope with malt, hops, and alcohol just to see how far we could go. Fun fact: Younger has always been at least double dry-hopped (some years even quadruple dry-hopped!) long before DDH became a “thing”!"

In addition to Pliny the Younger, Pliny the Elder and many of the barrel-aged "-ation" beers from Russian River Brewing Company, we will stack the draft list with life-affirming liquids from Brasserie Cantillon and Gueuzerie Tilquin of Belgium, among many other stars from around the world.  Stay tuned for the full draft list.   

As this is an unticketed event, some people will line up early to secure a table. No, we don't know what time you should come line up.  Please don't do it the night before.  No, you do not need to line up early in the day to get a glass of Younger.  We will have plenty.  Come anytime between Noon and 5pm to enjoy the community spirit of giving and a few of the finest beers in the world.  We look forward to seeing you on February 20!
