Join Monk's Café and Orval importer Merchant du Vin on Saturday, March 25 for Orval Day 2023! We will be serving fresh and vintage bottles of the only dry-hopped, Brett-inflected Trappist ale from 11:30am until supplies are exhausted or close of business, whichever comes first. Stay tuned to the Monk's Instagram for updates on vintage bottle selections.
Orval Day celebrates a global flavor touchstone: Orval Trappist Ale. Legend says that a trout returned a lost golden ring to Princness Matilda in 1070 AD, and she gratefully gave Belgium's "Golden Valley" to the church. Today, Orval is the only Trappist brewery wih a woman in charge of all brewing operations. Brewer Anne-Françoise and her team make a bold, spicy, deeply appealing ale with an extravagant head, compelling bouquet and sharp hint of sourness in the finish.
Orval is a favorite of everyday beer drinkers, aficionados and brewers the world around. It is a truly special ale and we are always proud to be recognized by the brewery as an official "Ambassadeur Orval" for 15 years!
Merchant du Vin will donate fifty cents from every bottle of Orval sold on Orval Day to National Forest Foundation. Share your celebrations online with #OrvalDay.
