Monk's Café is now serving and cooking with perhaps the cleanest water of any Philadelphia restaurant. In light of the recent chemical spill in the Delaware River, we have taken action to protect the health, well-being and happiness of our guests and coworkers with a newly installed, advanced water filtration system.
Our SpringWell whole-restaurant filter system has a large capacity pre-filter to remove sediment from the Philadelphia water supply. Next, the water goes through the large catalytic carbon filter tank to greatly reduce PFAS, PFOA, PFOS, pesticides, herbicides, haloacetic acids and many other chemicals that may be present in our city-treated water. The filter tank also contains KDF filter media to reduce heavy metals, hydrogen sulfide, chlorine, and more. We would like to thank Carl D’Angelo Plumbing for completing this, and all work at Monk’s, with speed and precision.
Upgrades to existing filters were completed by our longtime vendor Vineland Syrup, including new filtration for our water dispenser / pitcher filler in the wait station, additional filter for the ice machine, and new soda fountain filtration.
